In the New Testament, Jesus often speaks of a Shepherd and his flock of sheep. The good shepherd leads his sheep, guards them, and defends them with his life. The good shepherd gives his life for his sheep. Jesus is the Good Shepherd. He sacrificed His life for us, who are His flock. It was by the sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross that we received salvation.
